Man Dies in Orangeburg County Car Accident

Orangeburg County, SC (WLTX) - One person is dead after a two-car collision Friday night in Orangeburg County.

The SC Highway Patrol says the accident occured around 8:30 p.m. on Highway 6 at Secondary 139, which is about four miles east of Eutawville. It involved a 2008 Suzuki SUV and a 2000 Cadillac.

The driver of the SUV, 58-year-old Janie Anderson of Summerton, was airlifted to an unknown hospital and treated for injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt. There was one passenger in the SUV, 72-year-old Wayne Allen Anderson. He was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Highway Patrol says he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Cadillac was 66-year-old Oscar W. Poole of Duluth, GA. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Highway Patrol has not released a cause of the accident, but say speed is not believed to be a factor. The accident is still under investigation.
