Two Dead After Two Separate Car Accidents in Lexington

Lexington County (WLTX) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating two separate fatal car accidents that happened in Lexington County.

Officials say on Friday at approximately 6 PM, there was a two vehicle accident on SC 302, 10 miles south of Lexington.

Officials say the driver of a Toyota SUV, 63-year-old Ray Carter, was traveling westbound with a passenger when a Land Rover, driven by 44-year-old Lona Doice, drove toward the center of the road striking the Toyota head-on.

Officials say the passenger of the Toyota, 62-year-old Patricia Carter was killed in the accident.

In a separate accident at about 2 AM Saturday, there was a two vehicle collision on the 2400 block of Charleston Highway in West Columbia.

Officials say the driver of a red Chevy S-10 pickup truck was traveling in the wrong lane of traffic when he struck a Ford Crown Victoria with two occupants. The driver of the S-10 pickup truck, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death. The occupants of the Crown Victoria were transported to an area hospital.

Both of these accidents are still under investigation.
