West Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The West Columbia Police Department and the Richland County Sheriff's Department are investigating a murder that occurred in the city at approximately 7:56 a.m. Sunday.

Officials said 28-year-old Gerald Heyward Copeland forced entry into the residence of his ex-wife's boyfriend.

Officials said once inside, the suspect shot the victim, 39-year-old Clyde Jacob Yarborough, of Seminole Drive, multiple times.  When officers arrived on scene the victim was deceased and the suspect had already left the scene.

During the subsequent manhunt, the suspect was located in a vehicle on Bluff Road suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to officials.
