Orangeburg County, SC (WLTX) - The mayor of Blackville was one of two men killed in an accident Saturday afternoon in Orangeburg County.
Officials said at approximately 1:40 PM, two vehicles collided on SC Highway 3, 8 miles west of North, SC. Officials said drivers of both vehicles were killed in the crash.
Officials said the driver of a 1990 Acura, 43-year-old Keith Eric Harley of North Augusta, was traveling north when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox, came back onto the roadway hitting a Ford Explorer head-on that was being driven by 58-year-old Jackie T. Holman who is the Mayor of Blackville.
Holman was wearing a seatbelt and was transported by air to Palmetto Richland Hospital, where he died from injuries.
Holman's wife was a passenger in his vehicle, and officials said she was also wearing a seatbelt and had non-life threatening injuries.
Harley died at the scene, according to officials.
The passenger in the Acura, Jessie Stroman of Williston, was transported by air and is in serious condition, according to officials.

Holman, the Holman family wishes to thank the residents of Blackville and all of our friends and family throughout South Carolina for the tremendous outpouring of love, prayers and support. The Holman family asks everyone to continue to keep Mrs. Brenda Holman and all of the Holman children in your thoughts and prayers as Brenda continues to recover from the injuries she sustained in this tragic collision. We will surely need the support and prayers of all of our friends and family in the difficult days ahead. "
A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Mayor Jackie T. Holman will be held in the coming days and the details will be forthcoming.
