(WLTX) - In case you don't recall our last pivotal cliffhanger moment, Bella is now an official bloodsucker...and a mom! She and Edward are parents to Renesmee - their half human, half vampire daughter. Now, the Volturi have very little patience with vampire children. However, since Renesmee's blood still pumps, it may be enough to save her. But, if not, the Cullens and a pack of wolves are ready to fight for this little girl's life.

Meanwhile, Bella is adjusting to vampirism quite well. Despite her skeletal frame, she's the toughest kid on the playground. And it looks like she also has a special defense mechanism! Apparently, different vampires have different individual skills. One's an airbender, one's a shocker, one's a smoker, etc. Bella has the ability to disable those powers, if she can just learn to control it.

As promised, it all comes to a head on the battlefield with a rather disappointing counter-punch. Not to say there wasn't some good entertainment with sub-par special-effects - but nothing is really as it appears in the world of "Twilight."

Since 2008, I've been watching these movies and laughing at inappropriate moments. The more melodramatic it got for others, the funnier it got for me. This time, however, we were all in sync. I don't think I'd say this one was any better than the others (or necessarily worse) but it felt good to not be laughing all by myself. So, intentional or not, I'm grateful for the laughter. Rest in peace, "Twilight."
