Plano, TX (WLTX) - Former WWE wrestler Doink the Clown has died.
The WWE acknowledged the death of the wrestler, whose real name was Matt Osborne, in a statement posted on their website.
Multiple media outlets report he was found dead by his girlfriend in a home in Plano, Texas. A cause of death has not been determined.
During the 1990s Osborne donned facepaint and a clown costume to portray the outlandish character, who often played pranks on other wrestler. In addition to tv appearances, Doink's likeness was featured in video games based on the wrestling company's most popular entertainers.
Before joining the WWE, Osborne performed in Mid-South Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling.
Osborne was 55.
