Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The man Richland County deputies say kidnapped a 15-year-old Columbia girl has pleaded not guilty to a federal ammunition charge.

Freddie Grant, 52, entered the plea Tuesday in federal court.

He's been held on that charge since late August, and has been detained at the Lexington County jail, the detaining center for federal suspects.

But deputies say he's also responsible for the kidnapping of Gabbiee Swainson back on August 18. According to the sheriff's investigators, Grant took Swainson from her home in Richland County, then took her back to his Elgin home.

Sheriff Leon Lott says Grant has refused to tell investigators where the girl may be.
Lott says investigators have found blood on duct tape that matches Gabbiee's at Grant's home, and they've recovered other DNA evidence linking the suspect to the disappearance.

Lott says they have a warrant for Grant's arrest, but have not formally charged him with Swainson's disappearance yet.
