Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- One of the most recognizable pieces of hardware is in Columbia for the USC-Georgia showdown.
The BCS National Championship Coaches' Trophy will be on display Friday afternoon at the Wal-Mart on Two Notch Road from 1:00 - 3:00 pm and the Augusta Road Wal-Mart in West Columbia from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Trophy manager Charley Green and his staff brought the trophy to the News19 studios to talk about the tour which takes the trophy to high-profile games around the country.
The actual ball that sits atop the trophy is an eight-pound Waterford Crystal. The entire trophy is worth $30,000 and takes three months to produce.
At 34 inches tall and weighing 45 pounds, the BCS trophy is the crown jewel for college football teams and lately, it's been the SEC which has won the last six national titles.
The 2013 BCS national title game will be played on January 7 at Sun Life Stadium which will also host the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.
