Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- As the holiday season nears, the Salvation Army of The Midlands has begun taking applications for families in need of assistance.
This year for the first time, The Salvation Army will begin taking applications from families in Kershaw County who need Christmas Assistance.
People applying are asked to NOT bring your children along, you must make arrangements for someone to care for your children elsewhere while you complete the application process. Do not leave your children in your car.
The doors will open at 9am every day of the registration, and when the doors close at 2pm everyone seated inside will be registered.
Kershaw County old Armory at 1034 W. DeKalb St. in Camden
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Oct. 24th - 26th, 9am - 2pm
What You Must Bring:
- Picture I.D. for Head of Household
- Identification Cards for everyone residing in household, including:
- Driver's License
- Social Security Card
- State-issued I.D. Card
- U.S. Passport
- Employee I.D. Card
- School I.D. Card
- Health Insurance Card (not medicare)
- Military I.D. Card
- Matricula Consular I.D. Card (Mexican I.D. Card)
Proof of age for every child 13 and under (only children 13 and under can receive gifts) Birth certificates or other official documents may be used for proof of age.
Proof of all income in the home for the last 30 days (pay stubs, unemployment statement, SSI Disability, Social Security statement, VA or other Pensioins)
Anyone 18 or older and receiving no income must show proof of zero wage (Zero wage statement from Unemployment office)
Proof of all household expenses paid in the last 30 days (not bills that you owe, but bills that have been paid)
If your household qualifies for Food Stamps (SNAP) bring proof of your most current award statement (not EBT card)
With proof of Food Stamps award, the income and wage requirements listed above are not necessary.
