Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- According to Richland County deputies, 25 year old Jerome Bartley armed himself with a box cutter, went on a crime spree in Richland and Lexington Counties Wednesday morning.
Sheriff Leon Lott and Sheriff James Metts state that at approximately 9:15AM Wednesday, Bartley allegedly used his box cutter to rob a truck driver at 800 St. Andrews Road, stealing his potato chip truck.
Allegedly Bartley fleed that location and went to a shopping center, also on St. Andrews Road, and went into a Tripp's Cleaners location, allegedly assaulting and robbing the clerk and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.
Bartley then apparently crossed the street to Tire Kingdom, where Officers say he used the box cutter to assault a driver by cutting him in the neck area, and attempted to steal his vehicle. Two witnesses startled Bartley and he again fled on foot.
The driver cut in the neck was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Bartley then crossed back over St. Andrews Road to the Hess gas station, where he allegedly assaulted a woman and stole her Chevrolet pickup.
Officers say Bartley drove to Raintree Apartments where he abandoned the truck and continued on foot. He then apparently entered a home on Juneau Road, where he assaulted the resident, an 84 year old woman, and steals her jewelry and her slippers. The release goes on to say the woman's 79 year old neighbor attempted to come to her aid, but Bartley punched her in the face.
Bartley then fled that location, heading back to St. Andrews Road, where he was apprehended, and was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
He is being charged by Richland County with armed robbery, three counts of assault and battery, buglary, and strong armed robbery. Bartley will face additional charges in Lexington County.
