Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Richland County Coroner Gary Watts is asking the community for help with identifying the victim of a fatal wreck that occurred Wednesday night.

Coroner Watts says the crash happened on Windsor Lake Blvd near Oakcrest around 10:30pm.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the victim was traveling East on Windsor Lake Blvd in a 1998 Mitsubishi when he struck a 1999 Saturn traveling West.

Officers say the Mitsubishi flipped and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. Officers with Highway Patrol say the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

Officials say the victim was transported to Palmetto Richland Memorial where he died early Thursday morning.

Coroner Watts says paperwork in the vehicle identifies the individual as Javier Perez from Guatemala with an address on Hunt Club Rd, but after multiple trips to the residence, a positive identification of the individual has not been made.

Anyone with information about the identity of this individual is asked to call the Richland County Coroner's Office at 803-576-1799.
