Columbia, SC (WLTX) - When a Midlands pastor came to open his church Saturday morning after enjoying Christmas with his family, he discovered his church had been vandalized.
"It was a shock to see the vandalism that happened here. It just seemed senseless, nothing was taken but they just vandalized the building for no reason," said Leonard Williams, pastor of Agape Family Outreach Center in Columbia.
He and members were working to renovate the fellowship hall where the church holds Sunday school and dinner.
"We may not be able to use it for several weeks, but we will get it repaired and done over, but we won't let this stop us," said Williams.
The vandals tried to get inside the sanctuary but were unsuccessful; seeing his church vandalized makes Williams angry but he says he forgives whoever did it.
"You have to because one time I was lost, and I needed to find my way. As a young man I made some mistakes so I understand these things happen when you don't have God. Maybe they will be watching this and maybe they will see the pain they caused us in having to repair and getting the money up again to repair this because the materials are not cheap. "
