Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Two Richland County schools were briefly on a modified lockdown Wednesday as deputies searched for an attempted robbery suspect.

The lockdown was issued around 2:24 p.m. for Sandlapper Elementary and Longleaf Middle School. Less than an hour later, however, the lockdown was lifted and students were allowed to leave as normal.

Deputies say it was triggered by a call coming from a Domino's Pizza on Longtown Road. According to officers, employees saw a man putting a mask on outside the restaurant; in response, employees locked the doors to the business.

When the man realized he couldn't get in, he left. Officers didn't find him, but say they believe he left the area.

The lockdown was put in place as a precaution.
