TaylorMade Golf Company will establish a new golf ball production facility in Pickens County and the company will invest $13 million in creating a new state-of-the-art facility, the company announced today.
TaylorMade said it will build a new 120,000-square-foot golf ball production plant in Liberty and move current golf ball manufacturing operations to the new plant in January 2014.
The new manufacturing and research-and-development facility will be in the Pickens County Commerce Park and it will serve as TaylorMade's North American golf ball production headquarters, the company said.
The company expects to break ground on the new plant in May and have construction complete in January 2014 and complete the transition to Liberty in July 2014.
The Pickens County Council has given preliminary approval to tax breaks for the project.
Council approved an ordinance on second reading that would give approximately 26 acres in the Pickens County Commerce Park to TaylorMade, and another ordinance on second reading that would authorize the execution and delivery of a fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreement between the county and TaylorMade and the granting of special source revenue credit.
Both measures require a public hearing and one more reading, County Administrator Chappell Hurst has said.
