Eastover, SC (WLTX) - Three suspects are in custody after shots were fired at an Eastover festival.
Officers arrested 17-year-old Erick Stewart, 19-year-old Darian Chandler, and 29-year-old Michael Hall. Stewart is charged with weapons violation/possession of a stolen weapon, Chandler is charged with traffic violation/driving without a license, and Hall is charged with weapons violation/unlawful carrying of a pistol.
Last Saturday around 9 p.m., deputies near Anderson and Main Streets in Eastover heard shots fired. While in the area, they say they saw Chandler and Stewart get into a car and drive away. Deputies stopped the car and took the men into custody.
During their search of the car, officers say they found a stolen gun.
While that group of deputies dealt with those suspects, a separate group of officers noticed another vehicle they believed was involved in the shooting.
Eyewitnesses told officers that the driver of that car had pulled an assault rifle from his trunk, fired shots in the area, and ran into the woods. Officers have not yet found that suspect.
However, during their search, they received information that led them to Hall, who they say did not fire shots.
Officers are still trying to determine the sequence of events around the shooting. They're also still looking for anyone else who may be involved.
