Columbia Motorcyclist Dead After Weekend Collision

Lexington County, SC (WLTX)-  One man is dead after a collision that involved a motorcycle early Sunday evening.

Lexington County Chief Deputy Coroner Randy Martin has identified the individual who was killed in the motorcycle-versus-vehicle accident in Chapin as Patrick Kemp Cave, 32, of Columbia.

Officers say a Pontiac Grand-Am was traveling west on US Highway 76 when the  motorcyclist, Cave, attempted to pass the vehicle on his 1999 Harley Davidson. The two collided, fatally injuring Cave.

Troopers report Cave was not wearing a helmet.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, no charges have been filed.

 The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
