Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- With preseason football practice coming up in August, football fans who want to read up on USC history want to check a book penned by two veteran sportswriters.
Rick Scoppe and Charlie Bennett have nearly 60 years of combined experience in the newspaper industry and the two have put out an updated version of book they wrote a few years back entitled "Game of My Life - Memorable Stories of Gamecocks Football".
Bennett and Scoppe are very familiar with USC athletics. Scoppe was the USC beatwriter for the Associated Press and The Greenville News. Bennett first came on the scene covering USC athletics when he worked at the Charleston Post and Courier. Both men have an extensive background covering sports with a concentration into what has gone on behind the walls at Williams-Brice Stadium.
The book is essentially what it appears to be - former athletes reminiscing about their greatest individual performance in one contest. Of course, each chapter features a build-up to that one memorable game and in the process, it takes the reader on a journey through the eyes of each former Gamecock athlete who is profiled in the book.
