Springdale, S.C. (WLTX) - The Police Chief of Springdale has announced the arrest of a man suspected of Arson in connection with an apartment fire Tuesday, September 17th.
Chief Kevin Cornett says 33 year-old Terrence Parr was placed under arrest after turning himself in to Officers on Friday, September 20th, following an investigation by Springdale PD and SLED at the apartment building.
According to the Chief's report, Tuesday morning at approximately 6AM Springdale Officers responded to a burglar alarm at an apartment in building 11 of the Forestbrook Apartments on Shadblow Lane in West Columbia.
The Officer who responded reported finding the front of building 11 in flames, and reported immediately using his department issued fire extinguisher to put out the flames.
The Officer reports that the fire was on the front door of apartment 2 in building 11, and had spread to the front of the building between apartments 1 and 2. The Officer, along with first responders from the Lexington County Fire Department, ensured the fire was completely out and none inside the apartments affected were injured.
The Springdale Police Department worked with SLED to investigate the fire. On Thursday Officers executed search warrants related to the arson, and Investigators issued the arrest warrant for Parr.
He is being charged with Arson in the 3rd Degree, and following his surrender was transported to the Lexington County Detention Center.
