Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Richland County Deputies arrested a man for allegedly making a bomb threat against a former employer.

Richland County Sheriff Captain Chris Cowan reports that on September 28th, Sheriff Deputies and the Columbia Fire Department were dispatched to a business located on Windsor Lake Blvd. in Columbia for a bomb threat.

After investigating the location, no such device was found, and Deputies immediately identified 31 year old Michael Smith as a suspect.

The employer advised the Sheriff's investigators  that Smith had been counseled for poor work performance one day prior, on September 27th, and he allegedly made threatening comments to a co-worker.

Deputies arrested Smith on Monday, October 1st, and was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
