ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - The trial of a former South Carolina State University trustee accused of taking kickbacks has been delayed.
A federal judge this week pushed the trial for Jonathan Pinson back to January.
Pinson and another man had been scheduled to go on trial this month. But U.S. Judge David Norton granted defense attorneys' requests for more time to review the evidence in the case.
Prosecutors say Pinson took money and gifts to push through a land sale.
Pinson joined the school's board of trustees in 2005 and served as its chairman for several years until 2012.
He decided then to resign the leadership post, but held on to his seat on the board before leaving altogether in December, citing professional and family obligations.
