Columbia, SC (WLTX) - More than 8,800 walkers and runners helped
raise more than $615,000 for Palmetto Health Breast Center at the Walk for
Life/Race for Life held Saturday morning in Downtown Columbia. That's about $100,000 and 2,500 more participants
than last year.
The races have a major impact on programs and services offered to patients and families at the Palmetto Health Breast Center.
"People have paid it forward for me and I'm alive today because of events like this, so that's why I'm so passionate about it," says Bren Miller, a cancer survivor who's been raising money for Walk for Life. "My pink posse, we've raised over $100,000 in the last six years and we've just got a wonderful team of 92 people and if anybody's listening to this you are welcome to be on my team next year cause I'd like to make it 200."
Funds raised through this event will ensure that women in our community have access to the best care right here at home.
