Egans to Be New Commander of Shaw Detachment

Sumter, SC (WLTX) - An Army unit connected with the South Carolina-based U.S. Army Central is getting a new commander.

The 4th Battlefield Coordination Detachment bid farewell to Colonel Benjamin M. Matthews and welcomed Colonel Robert Agans as its new commander.

The change of command ceremony was hosted by lieutenant general James Terry at Patton Hall's Lucky Park. The detachment is  based at Shaw Air Force Base.

It acts as a liaison between the Air Force and U.S. Army Central, which supports U.S. Army units in 20 countries spanning from Egypt to Afghanistan.
