Waukesha, Wis. (AP) --Federal safety officials are proposing fines for a Columbia, S.C. based company after a worker was severely burned at its Wisconsin plant this summer.
Pure Power Technologies LLC could face fines of as much as $119,000. The company makes products for fuel systems and emissions control.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says the alleged safety violation stems from an accident at the company's Waukesha plant in June. An employee was severely burned while working on a 480-volt circuit breaker without proper protective equipment.
OSHA issued eight citations alleging failures with safety eqiipment and failures.
The company has 15 business days to pay the fines, contest the findings or request a meeting with the safety agency.
