$17,000 in Drugs, AK-47 Found at Home

Gaston, SC (WLTX) - A Lexington County man is facing federal drug charges after the FBI says they found crack, cash, and an assault rifle with him at a home.

Agents arrested 35-year-old Corey Jay Haygood Thursday night after they searched a mobile home on Pine Bluff Road in Gaston.

Inside, agents say they found cocaine, crack cocaine, drug scales, and other items used to cook and package crack cocaine. Officers say the also found a loaded Smith & Wesson .40 semi-automatic pistol on the kitchen counter, and a loaded AK-47 assault rifle hidden behind a kitchen appliance.

When they searched further, they say they found a secret compartment in a bedroom. Inside, agents say they found more cocaine and crack cocaine and $10,000 in cash.

The FBI estimates the amount of seized drugs have a street value of $17,000.
