Orangeburg County, SC (WLTX) - Orangeburg County deputies are releasing new information into the kidnapping of a baby Tuesday.
Officers say the incident took place just before 4 p.m. at a home on Catamount Road. Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says seven men with guns forced their way into the home, then forced the three adults and six juveniles to the floor.
During the crime, investigators say the men struck a woman in the head who was protecting her grandson. A four-month-old girl was taken from the home.
Later in the afternoon, the child was found off a rural road in Berkeley County. Medical services examined the child and said she was fine.
Several suspects in the case remain at large.
Ravenell says the investigation shows this was not an random act of violence, and the investigation continues.
