Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Former South Carolina basketball player, Gary Gregor, was named on the 2014 SEC Basketball Legends Wednesday.
In his four year career at USC, Gregor averaged 15.6 points and 12.6 rebounds. He also led the Atlantic Coast Conference in rebounding and earned All-ACC honors in 1967 and 1968. Gregor was inducted into the South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003.
Gregor went on to be a first round draft pick in the NBA and earned NBA All-Rookie honors with the Phoenix Suns. During his professional career he played for the Suns, Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers, Milwaukee Bucks and the ABA's New York Nets.
The rest of the 2014 SEC Legends class includes Eddie Phillips (Alabama), Clint McDaniel (Arkansas), Gerald White (Auburn), Greg Solt (Florida), D.A. Layne (Georgia), Tony Delk (Kentucky), Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (LSU), Ansu Sesay (Ole Miss), Erick Dampier (Mississippi State), John Brown (Missouri), Dr. Ed Wiener (Tennessee), Dr. John Thornton (Texas A&M) and Matt Freije (Vanderbilt).
The class will be honored at the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament on March 12-16 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Ga. Each member of the 2014 class will be recognized at half time of his institution's first game at the tournament.
