Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) - The former coach of the South Carolina State University student killed Friday remembers him as a "great kid."
Tommy Brown, the Athletics Director and head football coach at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, coached Brandon Robinson as a prep player.
Robinson, 20, was shot and killed outside a dorm on SC State's campus Friday afternoon. He was also a player on South Carolina State's football team. Previous Coverage: SC State Football Player Killed in Campus Shooting | Slain SC State Student's Stepfather Had Just Died
"He just graduated in 2011," Brown said. "I remember him playing for us. For him to be dead at this time is just tough to visualize."
Brown said after graduating from his school, Robinson walked-on at SC State and made the team. He says the young player likely would have been a starter next season.
"He's such a great kid he's done so much and he had a great future in front of him," Brown said.
