Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- It was record-setting cold start to Saturday, but temperatures will begin to moderate through the weekend.
Columbia dropped down to 11° Saturday morning breaking the old record of 14° set in 1963.
At least two areas saw temperatures in the single digits as Pelion hit 7° and Cedar Creek dropped to 8°.
Sunday temperatures should climb into the lower 50s under partly cloudy skies.
Temperatures will continue to moderate through Monday and the first day of the workweek should be our warmest day in the 7-day period.
Colder air will move into the area by Tuesday and then the focus will be on the development of a low pressure system off our coast.
The strength and position of the low will determine if we see any precipitation from this system.
Right now most of the forecast models keep the bulk precipitation off the coast, but this is something we will continue to watch over the weekend.
