Columbia, SC (WLTX)- The South Carolina Forestry Commission has lifted the Red Flag Fire Alert that has been in place since Saturday morning.

The alert ended based on improved weather conditions, including calmer winds and higher relative humidity.

During the Red Flag Alert, SCFC personnel responded to 51 fires statewide.  No injuries have been reported.

Despite the lift, the Southeast is in the middle of wildfire season, so care should be taken with all forms of outdoor burning to prevent starting wildfires.

Some local jurisdictions may have yet to lift a burning ban.  Check with local fire officials before conducting any type of burn.
SC law requires anyone planning to conduct debris burns or controlled burns to notify the Commission in advance.
