Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County deputies say a they caught a trio of teenage burglary suspects thanks to the footprints they left in the snow.

Officers arrested two 16-year-olds and a 14-year-old boy on Wednesday, the day that all the snow was on the ground from the winter storm.

Back on Wednesday, deputies say they got a call from a homeowner near the Coldstream subdivision in Irmo who reporting hearing the person's car burglary alarm go off. When the person went outside, the homeowner found footprints leading from his car to the road and reporting seeing three teenage suspects.

The homeowner kept talking to 9-1-1 dispatch and continued to follow the footprints. A responding deputy met the homeowner, who also began looking at the footprints.

Eventually, the officer found one of the suspects on Gilmore Road. The homeowner identified the teen as one of the three seen earlier.

Officers were also able to track the other boys by looking at their footprints.

In all, deputies believe the suspects broke into six cars in the area and one garage.
