Lexington, SC (WLTX) - Two Columbia men have been arrested and charged with possessing illegal gambling devices at a business in West Columbia.
Charles Chrisitian Black, 47, and John Lewis Segroves, 34 ,both of Columbia, turned themselves in on Friday, each with one count of unlawfully possessing gambling devices.
Both were book and released on $2,500 bonds.
An arrest warrant alleges that Black owned five illegal video gambling devices and operated them out of his business at on Augusta Road in West Columbia.
Lexington County sheriff's investigator,s in cooperation with SLED, seized five Pot-O-Gold style cabinet video gambling devices, one five camera video surveillance security system, and $70 in cash from Black's business.
The arrest warrant also alleges that Segroves was employed at Black's business and Segroves allowed patrons at the business to play games on the illegal video gambling devices according to Metts.
The Lexington County magistrate ruled that the gambling devices that investigators found were illegal and subject to seizure by law enforcement officers according to Metts.
Under South Carolina law, a magistrate must determine whether each individual gambling device is illegal.
