Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia City officials have released the names of the five finalists for the police chief job.

City Manager Teresa Wilson released the list Tuesday afternoon.

These are the finalists:

Tony Fisher - Former Spartanburg Director of Public Safety Chief

William Holbrook - Huntington, WV Police Chief

Bryan Norwood - Richmond, VA police chief

Charles Rapp - Executive Director for Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions

Gregory Reese - Chief of Security Forces for Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base, CO

Not among the names is Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago. He had applied for the position.

A police chief search committee came up with the list.

"The collaborative efforts of our Search Committee and Community Stakeholders have been vital to this national search and I'm especially grateful for their time, diligence and dedication," City Manager Teresa Wilson said in a statement. " Thanks to them, we have an amazing slate of candidates to consider."

Wilson says the next step will be a three day assessment process that will include her, the police chief search committee, a community stakeholders panel, and Columbia citizens.

To give the public a voice, the city has scheduled a public form for Wednesday, February 19th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. People who want to submit a question beforehand can email it to columbiahr@columbiasc.net or mail it to Gardner Johnson, Department of Human Resources, 1225 Lady Street, Columbia SC 29201.  All questions must be received by February 17, 2014.

The city has been without a police chief since last April, when Randy Scott resigned for personal reasons.
