Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- Former Gamecock outfielder Jackie Bradley, Jr. has been invited to the Boston Red Sox training camp.
Bradley was drafted 40th overall by the Boston Red Sox in the 2011 MLB draft. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2010 College World Series. He's perhaps best known for his game-tying RBI against Oklahoma when the Gamecocks stared in the face of elimination. South Carolina went on to win that game and the 2010 College World Series.
He's received high praise while in the Red Sox farm system. The 22-year-old Bradley hit .315 with 42 doubles, four triples, nine home runs, and 63 RBI in 128 games between High-A Salem and Double-A Portland last season. He was also named Red Sox Defensive Player of the Year.
Red Sox training camp for the entire squad begins February 15th.
