COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina coach Frank Martin says former Tulane and Miami head coach Perry Clark has agreed to join the Gamecocks staff.
Martin confirmed in a text to The Associated Press on Thursday that Clark has accepted the position. The Gamecocks had the opening since assistant Brad Underwood left in April to become head coach at Stephen F. Austin.
Clark last basketball job was head coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi from 2007 to 2011.
His head coaching career started at Tulane in 1989 where he twice the Metro Conference coach of the year and took he league's regular-season title in 1992. Clark moved to Miami in 2000. He won 24 games his second season with the Hurricanes, but had losing records the next two years and was let go.
