Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Kate Jeffcoat began playing organized basketball only two years ago. Yet she's already become coach Andrew Peckham's go to person in crunch time. "If the game is on the line," said Peckham. "Kate's getting the ball."
Why wouldn't you let her have the final shot when she's averaging 19 points and 12 rebounds per game? "It is surprising," Jeffcoat said. "I never expected any of this."
Jeffcoat honed her skills in the front yard of her parents house as she was home-schooled before enrolling at Covenant. "I spent hours upon hours practicing," she said.
It's obviously paid off.
Kate's determination in the classroom has paid off too as she sports a 3.7 GPA. She hopes to take up nursing in college because she love to help people.
Kate Jeffcoat is also involved in drama club, sings in the school's choir and is News 19's Player of the Week.
