Irmo, SC (WLTX) --- Alex Quillen did not receive as much publicity as Gatorade Player of the Year Justin McKie or point guard Detrek Browning, but he knew what his role was and that was a big reason why Irmo finished the season unbeaten, nationally ranked and champions of Class 4A.
In fact, in the playoffs when Irmo and South Pointe were locked in a tight battle, Quillen scored some key buckets during a three-minute stretch which allowed Irmo to pull out the win and keep the playoff run alive.
Alex, who also plays baseball for the Yellow Jackets, is constantly pushing himself in the classroom. His current grade point average is 3.684, but he is working hard to improve that mark.
He is undecided about where he wants to go to college, but he does want to major in sports management.
