Blythewood, SC (WLTX) --- The Blythewood softball team captured its eighth consecutive region title this week and senior catcher Bailey Newman has been a part of the last six.
The only six-year letterman in the history of Blythewood softball program, Bailey leads the team in batting average and stolen bases. As a veteran behind the plate, head coach Bucky Ware has put a lot of responsibility on her shoulders in terms of in-game decisions.
In the classroom, Bailey is ranked seventh in the senior class with a 4.56 grade point average. She has been accepted into the USC Honors College where she will major in pharmacy.
A member of the BETA Club and the National Honor Society, Bailey has organized a 5K race benefitting the "Hidden Wounds" organization for veterans with PTSD. She has also been the chairperson for the "Holiday Wishes" project which helps foster children.
