Brooklyn, NY (Sports Network) - Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez will replace
the Boston Celtics' Rajon Rondo in the upcoming All-Star Game in Houston on
Lopez, who is averaging 18.6 points and 7.3 rebounds in 38 games this season,
is set to make his first appearance in the mid-season contest. The former
Stanford Cardinal has helped New Jersey to a record of 27-18, good enough for
second place in the Atlantic Division.
Rondo will miss the remainder of the 2012 season with a torn anterior cruciate
ligament in his right knee, after he was hurt in last Friday's double-overtime
loss at Atlanta. He was averaging 13.7 points and a NBA-leading 11.1 assists
per game in 38 contests this season.
